Masuria – the land of a thousand lakes:

Masuria is definitely a magical and fairy-tale-like place. A vast number of lakes, green landscapes, and forests take your breath away. Such a terrain attracts many tourists and provides enormous possibilities for leisure activities. There is also a lot of history here, leaving behind its traces. In the vicinity, there is no shortage of historical sites from World War II and those related to the culture of ancient Slavs. These places can still be visited today, allowing you to learn about the history of Masuria from that time.

Masuria – despite being called the “Land of a Thousand Lakes,” hides many more water reservoirs than one might expect! There are about 2,600 lakes in the region. This provides ample opportunities for water sports enthusiasts. Numerous water bodies allow for enjoying the benefits of nature. Everyone will find something for themselves in this place.

We highly recommend:
Masurian cycling loop

Charming cycling route covering 300 kilometers in Masuria, with appropriate infrastructure to support cyclists, allowing them to discover the charms of this region from the perspective of two wheels. The route not only provides information about local tourist attractions, fascinating events, and places of natural value but also connects to the Green Velo Eastern Trail in the north, which is the longest such route in Poland.

The Mazurian Cycle Ring path has been planned based on the route of the Masurian Great Lakes Trail, which is a unique European-scale attraction due to its extensive system of lakes and canals. Along the Masurian Cycle Ring, there are specially prepared Cyclist Service Points (MOR), providing facilities for breaks and rest for cyclists. The route includes 18 Cyclist Service Points (MOR), equipped with shelters, sanitary facilities, and recreational areas. Additionally, the trail gains attractiveness thanks to 9 observation towers, from which you can admire the panorama of Masuria.

A walking and cycling trail around Lake Dejguny

A moderately difficult trail leading around the lake on paved and gravel roads, through wooded and field terrain. Following this trail, you will discover the spectrum of Masurian landscapes.

The trail leads through the villages of Bogacko, Kronowo, and Grzybowo.
In Bogacko, it’s worth making a stop to see the 19th-century cottage, which is a monument of Masurian architecture. The cottage is built on a fieldstone foundation, and its roof is thatched. Right next to it, on the peninsula called “Lisi Ogon” (Fox’s Tail), there are remnants of bunkers from World War II. There is a hypothesis that these bunkers housed a communication center serving the Wolf’s Lair.

Another larger village is Kronowo, a settlement with a history dating back to the 14th century. An attraction of the village may be to see numerous wayside shrines.

It’s worth taking a moment to relax on the beach in Grzybowo, enchanted by beautiful views. Grzybowo is also an old Masurian village, with its origins dating back to the year 1440. To this day, the manor has been preserved and is inhabited by several families; however, it is not open to visitors. There is also an old cemetery nearby, where you can find the names of the people buried here.
The entire route is extremely picturesque. A piece of real Masuria without large hotel buildings. One can fall in love with the local nature, numerous birds, moose, deer, hares, and beavers that can be easily encountered while wandering the local paths.
